FAQ
About the Game
Is Solitaire free to play on Solitaired CA?
Yes — completely free. There is no download, no app to install, no account to create, and no payment of any kind. Open the site, click New Game, and start playing instantly in your browser on any device.
Do I need to create an account to play?
No account is needed. Your move count and time are tracked for the current game only, stored locally in your browser tab, and reset when you start a new game. Nothing is sent to any server.
Does this site work on mobile phones and tablets?
Yes. The board, cards, and all controls are fully touch-friendly. You can move cards by tapping a card and then tapping its destination, or by pressing and dragging. The layout adjusts automatically to fit your screen size whether you are on a phone, tablet, or desktop.
What games are available on this site?
Currently two games are available: Solitaire (also known as Klondike Solitaire) and Spider Solitaire. Solitaire uses one deck across seven columns. Spider Solitaire uses two decks across ten columns and comes in three difficulty levels — Easy (1 suit), Hard (2 suits), and Hardest (4 suits).
About Winnable Deals
Can every game on this site actually be won?
Every Solitaire deal on this site is generated and then run through a solver that searches for a complete winning sequence of moves before the board is shown to you. If the solver cannot confirm that a win is possible within its search budget, that deal is discarded and a new shuffle is generated. In practice, this means the hands you are dealt are confirmed winnable before you ever see them.
Why do some Solitaire games online seem impossible to win?
A fully random shuffle produces a Solitaire layout that is mathematically unsolvable roughly 1 in every 12 to 30 deals, depending on the drawing rules. Most Solitaire sites do not check for this before dealing, so players regularly receive hands that cannot be won no matter how well they play. This site eliminates that problem by checking every deal before showing it.
What happens if the solver cannot confirm a deal in time?
The solver runs within a time limit so the game loads quickly. On rare occasions — most often with the Hardest drawing mode — the solver may not finish within its time budget. If that happens, the status bar above the board tells you honestly. The deal is still a fair, unbiased shuffle, just not solver-confirmed. You can always click New Game to generate a fresh verified deal.
Are Spider Solitaire deals guaranteed winnable too?
Easy (1-suit) Spider deals are solver-checked the same way Solitaire deals are. Hard (2-suit) and Hardest (4-suit) Spider have search spaces too large to verify in real time, so those modes use a fair, unbiased shuffle but are not solver-confirmed. This is disclosed clearly on the Spider Solitaire page.
How to Play
What is the difference between Easy, Hard, and Hardest?
In Solitaire, Easy deals Draw 1 and allows unlimited passes through the stock — the most accessible mode where every deal is solver-confirmed winnable. Hard deals Draw 1 but limits you to three passes through the stock. Hardest deals Draw 3, meaning three cards are turned from the stock at a time but only the top one is playable, and you get only one pass — the most challenging traditional mode.
What does Draw 1 and Draw 3 mean?
When you click the stock pile, Draw 1 turns over one card at a time, giving you immediate access to every card in the deck eventually. Draw 3 turns over three cards at a time but only the top card of those three is playable, which buries options deeper and makes the game significantly harder. Both modes are available in the toolbar above the board.
Can I undo a move?
Yes. The Undo button in the toolbar reverses your last move. You can undo multiple moves in sequence to backtrack as far as you need. There is no penalty for using Undo.
How does the Hint button work?
Clicking Hint highlights a card that has a legal and strategically useful move available. The status bar above the board describes the suggested move in plain language. Hints do not move cards automatically — you still make the move yourself.
Technical Questions
Does this site use cookies or track my data?
Please read our Privacy Policy for full details. In short: the game itself stores nothing outside your browser tab. If Google AdSense ads are displayed, those may use cookies as described in Google’s own privacy policy, which is linked from our Privacy Policy page.
Why does the game sometimes take a moment to load?
When you click New Game, the site generates a shuffle and runs a solver to confirm the deal is winnable before showing it to you. This check usually takes under one second, but on slower devices or for harder difficulty levels it may take two to three seconds. The status bar shows you what is happening during this time.
The cards look small on my phone. Can I make them bigger?
The card size adjusts automatically based on your screen. On very small screens, the table also scrolls horizontally so all columns remain accessible. If you are on a phone and find the cards hard to tap accurately, try rotating your device to landscape orientation for a wider view.
