Play Spider Solitaire free — 1, 2, or 4 suits

Spider Solitaire deals two decks across ten columns instead of one deck across seven. There are no foundations to build up by suit one card at a time — instead, you clear the board by assembling complete same-suit runs from King down to Ace anywhere on the tableau, which then lift off automatically.

Difficulty in Spider comes almost entirely from how many suits are in play. With 1 suit, every card can be stacked on every other card regardless of suit, so the game is forgiving and fast. With 2 suits, you have to start respecting suit when building a movable run. With 4 suits — the full classic version — it's considered one of the hardest widely-played Solitaire variants.

About winnability: 1-suit deals on this site are checked by a solver before you see them, the same way Solitaire deals are. 2-suit and 4-suit Spider have far larger search spaces — verifying them in real time isn't currently practical — so those modes use the same fair, unbiased shuffle but aren't solver-confirmed before each deal.

How to play Spider Solitaire

  1. Ten columns are dealt face down, with the top card of each turned face up, and 50 cards held back in the stock.
  2. Build sequences in descending order on the tableau — any suit can sit on any other card, but only a same-suit, in-order run can be moved together.
  3. When a face-up card is cleared, the card beneath it turns face up.
  4. Click the stock to deal one new face-up card onto every column at once. You can only deal when no column is empty.
  5. Whenever a complete run from King down to Ace, all one suit, sits together at the bottom of a column, it is automatically removed to the foundation.
  6. The game is won when all eight complete suit-runs have been cleared.

Frequently asked questions

Is Spider Solitaire free to play here?

Yes, all three suit-count modes are free, with no download or account required.

Which suit count should a beginner start with?

Start with 1 suit. Every card can stack on every other card regardless of suit, which makes the early game far less restrictive while you learn how runs and the stock deal work.

Are 2-suit and 4-suit Spider deals guaranteed winnable?

Not currently. 1-suit deals are checked by a solver before being dealt, the same approach used for Solitaire on this site. 2-suit and 4-suit Spider have search spaces too large to verify in real time, so those modes use a fair shuffle without a pre-checked solution.

Can I undo a move in Spider?

Yes, use the Undo button in the toolbar above the board at any time during a game.
