Spider is one of the most popular Solitaire games, and it is a longer, deeper puzzle than Klondike. You work with two decks across ten columns and try to assemble eight complete runs of one suit, from King down to Ace. Each finished run lifts off the table. How Spider Solitaire works in brief
- Cards are placed on any card one rank higher, whatever the suit.
- Only same-suit descending runs can be moved together.
- Click the stock to deal a new row, one card per column. You can only deal when no column is empty.
- A King-to-Ace run in one suit is removed automatically.

About winnable deals in Spider
Deals in all three Spider modes come from libraries that were checked with a solver, and each winning line was replayed through the real game rules before the deal was kept. The page on winnable Solitaire explains what that does and does not guarantee. A winnable deal still has to be played well: finding the path takes planning, especially with 4 suits.
Tips to get started
- Make an empty column as early as you can.
- Build on a same-suit card whenever it is available.
- Reveal hidden cards before making cosmetic moves.
- Deal from the stock only when you have run out of useful moves.

How many suits should I choose in Spider Solitaire?
Start with 1 suit to learn the game. Move to 2 suits when you win regularly, and try 4 suits when you want the full classic challenge.
Can I move several cards at once in Spider?
Yes, but only a run of the same suit in descending order, such as 9, 8, 7 of hearts. Mixed-suit stacks have to be moved one card at a time.
Why can I not deal a new row?
Spider only lets you deal from the stock when every column has at least one card. Fill any empty column first.
How do I win Spider Solitaire?
Build eight complete runs of one suit from King down to Ace. Each completed run is removed automatically, and you win when all eight are gone.
